Doyle craves excitement. The small town he grew up in was too staid. So boring in fact that he had to create his own excitement. Getting into trouble, getting away with it. That was what filled him with joy back then.
He fled to London as soon as he was old enough. The streets weren't paved with gold but it was the place he'd dreamed of. He joined the police force because the alternative was a life of crime that would see him locked up as surely as his name is Raymond Doyle. At least this way the excitement he craves won't get him arrested.
But eventually the thrill of being a policeman wanes. One day Doyle hears about an organisation called CI5. He sends in an application the same day.
