So, this second snowflake_challenge prompt is about pets. While I could write about fictional pets, of which my canons have many, I’m going to write about my babies. I have two cats. Greyson is a floofy middle-aged boy with Manx characteristics, including the bobtail, and the looks of a Niebelung. He’s made of floof and love and has about half a brain cell on a good day. Whiskey is a very smol void with attitude for days. She chose me as her human and likes to be on me whenever possible. Pictures under the cut!

I’m determined to catch up with the snowflake_challenge, so introduction ho! I’m meerkat, known as whimsicalmeerkat everywhere on the web with a reasonable character limit and meerkatwhim or meerkatwhimsy everywhere else. I’m doing this challenge in part because I want to start using dreamwidth more and I’ve heard it’s a good way to meet people. I’m a latecomer to fandom, starting in my mid-thirties, but I have the soul of a fandom old. I have two modes: Teen Wolf and teensy-tiny book fandoms. For those who are wondering why the Multifandom Multimedia Microbang is called "Be A Goldfish," here's the explanation from the comm's Admin

devinwolfi:

When we started this event earlier this year, it was a Ted Lasso fandom exclusive event. We always had every intention to go multifandom later, this just gave us the opportunity to beta test it on a smaller group. In that series, a recurring line is to "be a goldfish," (based on the now disproved idea that goldfish have 3-10 second memories), meaning to let go of past hurts, move on, brave the new day, and try new things, all of which we hope to embody and encourage throughout this event. We've found that smaller works and folks who leave comments tend to get less attention, but those small works and comments are by no means less important to the fandom ecosystem so we wanted to give them, and the fans who share them, the support and attention they deserve. We also know that it's very easy to get bogged down by expectation, past experiences, and the pressure of trying to be "successful" in fandom and be paralyzed by it all to the point of inaction. We want to give people the space to try new things and develop new fannish skills without feeling like they have to commit to big projects.

I've been playing only Duel Links. I started reading The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle for a challenge over on LibraryThing, but I DNF'd when

his cat died.

I have plenty more things to read this month though for other challenges on LibraryThing and The Spellshop for

bookclub_dw.

I've been trying to recolor the Windows Calculator and I finally figured out how to run the repository, but Visual Studio says it can't read a few files. I'm thinking I might have to download and use the 2022 version of Visual Studio instead. (The last time the read-me on GitHub was updated was 2 years ago and that was just for higher quality screenshots so it says the latest version is fine, but that might not be true.)

I'm trying to figure out my general goals for the year ahead. I have some craft stuff planned and I set a goal of 6,000 words in TrackBear. I'm hoping to write more than that, but at least with a small goal, it's really easy to get ahead so if I have to take a break from writing for some reason it'll be fine. I also want to get back into photography this year.

I can’t believe it’s already the fourth of January.

4. Do you have any travel plans arranged for this year?

We have nothing planned so far. But I need to go see my brothers and my sister in New Mexico, so we’ll probably go in April or May. I didn’t get to see anyone last year because we went to Greece. We sometimes go for no reason to California since it’s only six hours away. We both love it there.

Anyone else have any big plans for travel?
